Landau calls to end oil "addiction"

"Every time we pull out our wallet to pay for gas, we send 20-30% to terror-supporting countries."

Minister of National Infrastructures Uzi Landau called for the world to free itself from dependence on Arab oil and switch to renewable energy, because dependence on oil finances Islamic terrorism. He made the remarks at the 4th International Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition today.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we are still addicted to oil," said Landau. "The Western world suffers from a serious addiction to oil, and until we rise up and act, we will continue to be addicted. Our cars continue to thirst for oil that finances Arab terrorism. The key to maintaining our standard of living is in your hands.

"Every time we pull out our wallet to pay for gas, we send 20-30% to terror-supporting countries. This is the source of money that finances radical Islam and terrorism. It finances al-Qaida and Hizbullah, and Iran's nuclear project."

Landau added, "The introduction of the electric car to Israel is a national mission. The electric car market as envisioned by the Ministry of National Infrastructures, will be an open, competitive, and safe market that will meet international standards and will place the consumer in the center.

"It is true that Better Place LLC has the flag-carrying rights, but I can tell you that competitors are not sitting quietly. Therefore, one of the main emphases of the ministry's policy is to keep the principle of open access, which will allow multi-vendor recharging systems.
