Bezeq slashes high-speed Internet prices

The company seeks to encourage subscribers to upgrade to 20 and 30 mbps speeds.

Will this make Israelis upgrade their Internet connections? Today, Bezeq The Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) announced a reduction in prices of its high-speed Internet service NGN, by as much as 35%, in order to tempt subscribers to move to higher speeds.

Bezeq made the announcement on its Facebook page, where it has over 30,000 friends.

The price reduction applies to speeds of 20 and 30 mbps (maximum speed). The price of a 20 mbps connection will be reduced by 19%, to NIS 120 per month, while the price of the 30 mbps connection will be reduced by 35%, to NIS 130 per month.

As far as Bezeq is concerned, this is a matter of setting a goal, after it reported that it had conquered the 10 mbps target. The company claims that most of its subscribers upgraded their surfing speed to 10 mbps last year, and that it will shortly exceed the 200,000 mark of subscribers at this speed.

"The rate of subscription to the 10 mbps speed has been higher than for any other speed in recent months, with 20,000 new subscribers joining every month," Bezeq said.
