"I will lead a social agenda."
MK Shelly Yacimovich today announced to 7,000 supporters that she will run for chairmanship of the Labor Party. She is recruiting activists for an ideological battle at the party, which she hopes will be expanded to the party rank and file, and increase her chances of winning in the party primaries.
"During my five years in the Knesset, I forewent authority and many honors offered me, and totally dedicated myself to the practical realization of my worldview in broad economic and social legislation. These are the characteristics that I will pour into the Labor Party when I head it: a social, Zionist, responsible, and fair agenda. A social-democratic agenda. Only a return to these policies will give hope and renewal and connect us to large audiences, new and old, from the full spectrum of the political rainbow," Yacimovich said.
