The Ministry of Finance today published the request for proposals (RFP) for two extensions of Road 6 (the Cross-Israel Highway or Yitzhak Rabin Highway) toll road. The northern 20.5-kilometer section will cost an estimated NIS 3 billion to build. Even through both extension are planned as toll roads, the ministry is considering set up grants to the tender's winner in view of the project's low economic viability.

The tender committee comprises the ministries of finance and transport and the Cross Israel Highway Company Ltd. The winner will plan, finance and build the sections, and operate and maintain them for 30 years.
Section 7 will run between Yokne'am (the present northern terminus of the highway) five kilometers to the Tel Kashish Junction. It will include a 1.7-kilometer tunnel. The estimated cost of this section is NIS 1 billion.
Section 3 will run 12 kilometers from Tel Kashish Junction to the Somech Junction, and will include two kilometers of tunnels. The estimated cost of this section is NIS 2 billion.
