British Airways will inaugurate a new route between London and San Diego, beginning on June 1. The daily flight will be the only route between Europe and the southern California city. Israelis will be able to make a follow-on flight from Tel Aviv, via London, to San Diego, starting at $1,083, including all taxes and fees. The trip leaves Tel Aviv at 8 am (Israel time), and arrives in San Diego at 6 pm, Pacific Standard Time.
The flight is part of the British Airways, American Airlines, and Iberia trans-Atlantic alliance established in late 2010. The three airlines are now offering frequent flights on joint schedules to popular destinations. Israelis will have 11 daily flights to New York from Europe under this arrangement.
British Airways Israel commercial manager Yael Katan said, "Israeli passengers love flying to the US, so the new frequency of flights will offer them maximum flexibility. In effect, a flight will leave almost every hour from London to New York or Chicago."
