Tel Aviv fast lane toll rises

The toll varies with traffic in order to maintain a travel speed of 70 km/h.

The minimum toll on the Tel Aviv fast lane on Road 1 will rise by NIS 1, or 16.7%, to NIS 7 on Friday, April 1. The toll hike parallels a 10% reduction in the price of monthly bus passes. The Ministry of Finance approved the update on the basis of the minimum toll's linkage to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) every April 1.

The toll on the Tel Aviv fast lane between Ben Gurion and Kibbutz Galuyot Junction at the entrance to the city varies with traffic, the maximum toll can reach as high as NIS 75, in order to maintain a travel speed of 70 km/h.

Tel Aviv fast lane franchisee Shafir Civil and Marine Engineering Ltd. reports that use of the shuttle buses to and from the parking lot on the fast lane to the government compound in Tel Aviv and the Diamond Exchange in Ramat Gan has gradually risen.

Almost 1,000 people currently use the shuttle bus service each day. On the basis of the frequency of buses - every 5-15 minutes between 6 am and 11 pm, Sunday through Thursday - this amounts to no more than 15 passengers per bus.

Shafir added that it has asked Cross Israel Highways Ltd., which functions as the supervising authority, for permission to open another section of the park and ride lot to add 480 parking spaces to the current 780 spaces.
