Pitango and strategic investors led the third round.
Video search company VideoSurf Inc. has raised $16 million in its third financing round led by Pitango Venture Capital and strategic investors. The company's technology enables computer to "see" inside videos in order to quickly and efficiently find content.
The current funding brings the amount of capital raised by VideoSurf to $28 million. Investors include former US Vice President Al Gore, and Survey Monkey CEO David Goldberg.
VideoSurf CEO Lior Delgo, chief scientist Prof. Achi Brandt, CTO Dr. Eitan Sharon, and COO Shai Deljo founded the company in 2006. The company claims that over 20 million users use it each month.
VideoSurf has numerous competitors, including Google Inc's (Nasdaq: GOOG) YouTube, Blibkx (acquired by AOL Inc. (NYSE: AOL), and Truveo Inc.
