Unemployment falls to 6%, near all-time low

The unemployment rate fell from 6.1% in January and 6.2% in December 2010.

The unemployment rate fell again in February 2011 to 6% of the civilian labor force from 6.1% in January - close to the all-time low of 5.9% reached in mid-2008. There were 192,000 unemployed in February, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today.

The Central Bureau of Statistics also revised downward its unemployment figures for the preceding months. The December 2010 unemployment was lowered to 6.2% from 6.4%, and the unemployment rate in the fourth quarter was 6.6%, of 211,000 persons.
