A truck hit a bus, several vehicles, and pedestrians, killing one person and injuring 15, on Bar Lev Street in Tel Aviv this morning, and tried to flee the scene. Police arrested the driver and rescue services took the injured to hospital.
The initial inquiry found that the truck driver was a 22-year old resident of Kafr Qassem. He was travelling from Messubim Junction to Tel Aviv's Hatikva neighborhood. He struck the vehicles, pedestrians, two motorcyclists along a two-kilometer stretch, before hitting a bus, which brought him to a halt.
The driver claims that the incident was a traffic accident due to a puncture.
The Police say that the driver has a number of traffic violations, and that his driver's license may have been revoked, making it difficult to know whether this was in fact a terrorist attack.
Police also arrested a second person, a resident of Arara, on suspicion of being connected to the incident.
