Comverse hiring 150

The company will hire employees for its BSS division, after firing 2,500 employees in the past few years.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Comverse Technology Inc. (Pink Sheets: CMVT) is planning to hire 150 employees over the next few months for its business support systems (BSS) division, after firing 2,500 employees in the past few years. The move comes after the company won several new tenders worth tens of millions of dollars altogether by communications carriers from around the world.

Comverse currently has about 4,000 employees, included outsource workers. The company plans to hire 50 new employees immediately, and 100 more employees by the end of the summer, in order to support new projects, including migrating customers to Comverse's billing systems.

In February, just before his departure, former Comverse CEO Andre Dahan announced the second stage of the company's streamlining plan, which included 200 layoffs, mostly in Israel, to be followed by hundreds more layoffs later in the year, together with natural attrition of the workforce. The number of layoffs will be apparently less than previously thought.
