Shekel pushing dollar down to NIS 3.40/$ threshold

The shekel is also stronger against the euro today.

The shekel strengthened against the dollar and euro in afternoon inter-bank trading today. The shekel-dollar exchange rate fell 0.40% to NIS 3.423/$ and the shekel-euro exchange rate was down 0.43% to NIS 4.929/€.

The Bank of Israel yesterday set the shekel-dollar exchange rate representative rate at NIS 3.437/$, down 1% from the day before, and its set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.951/€, up 0.04%.

In international markets, the dollar fell to a three-week low against leading currencies. It weakened 0.03% against the euro to $1.442/€, and traded at ¥81.31/$ against the Japanese yen. Analysts believe that the dollar will weaken against leading currencies due to fears of a slowdown by the US economy.
