More cities face noise from new Ben Gurion Airport flight paths

West Rishon LeZion, Holon, Beit Dagan, Bnei Atarot, and Shoham will face greater jet noise.

The NIS 850 million runway safety upgrade project at Ben Gurion Airport will expose new residents to jet noise. The second stage of the project began today and will last 27 months, through September 2013, during which period the airport's flight paths will be changed, affecting jet noise beneath them.

The changes in the takeoff and landing paths at Ben Gurion Airport's two runways during the construction work will affect west Rishon LeZion, Holon, Beit Dagan, Bnei Atarot, Shoham, and other communities that have enjoyed relative quiet. Communities that suffered from jet noise during the year-long first stage of the runway project will get relief, including Kfar Truman, Ginaton, and northern Lod and northern Rishon LeZion.
