Prime Minister's Office chief Eyal Gabai, who is leaving his post, and Finance Ministry chief Haim Shani, who quit today, head the committee.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants the committee examining oligopolies to speed up its work and submit recommendations by the end of August, instead of in November.
Under the committee's original timetable, it has not yet completed its hearings or completed its general assessment of the consequences of its recommendations. The committee must also formulate a bill based on its recommendations and send it to the cabinet for a decision.
Prime Minister's Office director general Eyal Gabai, who is leaving his post, and Ministry of Finance director general Haim Shani, who quit today, head the anti-oligopoly committee, which was set up ten months ago. The committee is supposed to examine economic distortions caused by the over-concentration of economic power, and suggest proposals for dealing with it.
