YL Ventures GP Ltd. has invested in automatic website protection start-up 6scan Ltd. The company did not disclose the size of the investment, which is estimated at $2-3 million.
6Scan's founders CTO Yaron Tal and CEO Nitzan Miron say that it is the first company that offers automatic solutions that block hackers and information security break-ins of websites. They founded the company five months ago.
YL Ventures founder and managing partner Yoav Andrew Leitersdorf joined 6Scan's board of directors as part of the investment. He said, “Existing security solutions for websites are either complex to use or expensive, causing most small sites - over 300 million of which existed in May 2011 - to skip security altogether and remain highly vulnerable. 6Scan brings security to everyone by providing a comprehensive security solution that is easy-to-use and costs as little as $10 a month."
Miron told "Globes", "Our patented technology impersonates a hacker, acting as a guard to automatically identify and fix break-ins or hacking attempts as soon as it finds them."
6Scan's products 6Scan Patrol and the 6Scan Bodyguard are in the beta stage. Yaron says that the company already has contracts with hosting companies, which market its products to websites. "This relieves hosting companies of a great headache by preventing break-ins, and we get access to a great many sites. Income will be based on a profit-sharing model at this stage."
6Scan has five employees, and it is hiring. Applicants must meet the company's "Hacker challenge" on its website to be considered. If they succeed, they enter the website and can send their CVs.
