The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.82% to 1,178.21 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.86% to 1,069.0 points, but the BlueTech 50 Index rose 0.16% to 270.11 points. Turnover was NIS 1.43 billion.
The TASE fell for the sixth straight day today, with the Tel Aviv 25 Index down 6.6%.
In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government bonds rose by up to 0.1% and long-term Galil CPI-linked bonds ranged between losses of 0.1% and gains of 0.1%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 0.12%.
In the foreign currency market, the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate rose 0.44% to NIS 3.464/$, and the shekel-euro representative exchange rate rose 1.43% to NIS 4.963/€.
In the stock market, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) fell 3.4% for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares, on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 115 million, after falling 3.9% on Nasdaq yesterday.
Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) fell 1.5% after publishing its offer to purchase Delek Energy Systems Ltd. (TASE: DLEN) in exchange for participation units in Delek Energy subsidiaries Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) and Delek Drilling LP (TASE: DEDR.L), which owns stakes in Yam Tethys, Tamar, and Leviathan. Delek Energy rose 0.2%, but Avner fell 1.2% and Delek Drilling fell 0.7%.
Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) bucked the market with a gain of 0.6%, a day after publishing its financials. Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) and Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) both rose 0.7% for the biggest gains among Tel Aviv 25 shares, along with Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT).
Retailers fell today on fears that the social protests are liable to affect their financial results. National chains Shufersal Ltd. (TASE:SAE) fell 2.3% and Alon Holdings Blue Square - Israel Ltd. (NYSE: BSI; TASE: BSI) fell 1.6%. Independent chain Rami Levi Chain Stores Hashikma Marketing 2006 Ltd. (TASE:RMLI) fell 3.5%, Tiv Taam Holdings 1 Ltd. (TASE:TTAM) fell 1.4%, Victory Supermarket Chain Ltd/ (TASE: VCTR), fell 0.2% and Zim Direct Marketing Ltd. (TASE: ZMMR) (which operates the Kimat Hinam chain))fell 3.6%.
