Zohar Zisapel invests $5.2m in Ceragon

He has invested $25 million in Radcom, Radvision, Silicom, and Ceragon in the past three years.

Zohar Zisapel invested $5.2 million in Ceragon Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: CRNT; TASE:CRNT), increasing his holding in the company to 13.9%, according to a company filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last week.

An examination by "Globes" has found that Zisapel has invested $25 million in Ceragon, Radvision Ltd. (Nasdaq: RVSN; TASE: RVSN), Radcom Ltd. (Nasdaq: RDCM), and Silicom Ltd. (Nasdaq:SILC; TASE:SILC) over the past three years. His only sale, made earlier this year, was part of his holding in Radware Ltd. (Nasdaq: RDWR) for $20.7 million earlier this year.

Zisapel repeatedly invests in companies he founded in the belief that they are worth more and to turn them into global leaders in their fields, possibly even into the next Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP) or Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA; TASE: TEVA). It is not clear whether his dreams will turn into reality, but his willingness to personally invest in companies to achieve them is worthy of commendation.

Zisapel made the first wave of investments in late 2008, when the global financial crisis hit share prices. After a time-out, he resumed the investments earlier this year.

He has invested $11.9 million in video conferencing company RadVision, and has lost $1 million on the investment to day, due to the slide in the share price. He has invested $2.9 billion in test and service monitoring solutions developer Radcom, and made a paper profit of 1.7 million. He has invested $7.5 million in wireless backhaul solutions developer Ceragon and made a paper profit of $2.9 million. He has invested $2.8 million in connectivity solutions developer Silicom, and made a paper profit of $5.6 million.

Altogether, Zohar Zisapel has made a paper profit of $9.2 million on these four investments.
