The Israel Railways workers committee today decided to disrupt railway service nationwide, after negotiations with management broke up yesterday. The workers committee also threatens a general strike in tghe coming days, and to delay the inauguration of the Tel Aviv-Rishon LeZion line next week.
For its part, Israel Railways management is threatening to petition the court if the workers' disruptions severely affect passengers.
The Ministry of Finance, with the support of Israel Railways management, wants to privatize rolling stock maintenance - a measure opposed by the workers committee, with the support of the Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel).
