Israel Military Industries Ltd. (IMI) has completed development of a uniquely protected structure for the storage of hazardous materials that can withstand a direct hit by Grad and Kassam ground-to-ground rockets. IMI says that the structure's materials successfully passed tests by the company.
The building is a six-square meter modular structure that can house up to 18 people. Its has air vents enable the people to stay inside for prolonged periods. It was designed to provide cover for employees at factories and industrial sites that lack indoor protected spaces. The structures can also be used to store hazardous materials, which if leaked as the result of a rocket hit, could cause an environmental catastrophe.
IMI says that deployment of these structures in the proximity of factories can ensure continued production during prolonged confrontation involving rocket fire against rear areas. This would enable companies to meet delivery times of their products to market.
IMI says that given the frequency of confrontations in southern Israel, which involve extensive rocket fire against civilian targets, factories in the region have expressed great interest in these structures. IMI adds that it is ready to begin regular round-the-clock production of the structures and deliver them.
