High efficiency cell co Xjet Solar raises $35m

The funds were raised from Landa Ventures LLC and Chinese investors.

Rehovot based Xjet Solar, which is developing FabGrade contactless deposition for high efficiency solar cells, has raised $35 million from Landa Ventures LLC and Chinese investors. This is the company's second round of fund raising, having previously raised $9 million in 2007 from Gemini Israel Funds, Good Energies, Spirox and Scatec AS.

Xjet enables customers to manufacture solar cells that meet or exceed target cell efficiency at the lowest possible cost. The company has partnered with select solar cell manufacturers to bring its advanced metallization technology to market.

Founded in 2007 by CEO Ofir Baharav, who also founded US start up Optonix, which was acquired by Credence for $450 million, and president and CTO Hanan Gothait, who founded Idanit which was sold to HP for $230 million.
