Netanyahu to appoint his military adviser's brother to head office

Harel Locker is due to replace Prime Minister's Office director general Eyal Gabai

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to appoint Harel Locker to replace Prime Minister's Office director general Eyal Gabai. Harel Locker is the brother of Netanyahu's military secretary, Major General Yohanan Locker.

The Prime Minister's Bureau confirmed that Harel Locker is one of the candidates for the post and that he is worthy of the job.

Harel Locker is scheduled to meet the Civil Service appointments committee in a few days. He will be required to sign a conflict of interests agreement. He is currently a partner at the S. Friedman & Co. law firm, where he specializes in tax law.

Gabai resigned in August, and the Prime Minister's Office has been without a director general since. Cabinet Secretary Zvi Hauser has been serving as acting director general for the past month.

Netanyahu previously decided against Property and Building Ltd. (TASE: PTBL) deputy CEO Uzi Levy for the job, and former MK Nahum Langental rejected an offer because it would create a conflict of interests with his current land investment activity.
