Israel's top hairdresser shuts down chain

"Yediot Ahronot" reports that Shuki Zikri owed money to black marketers, who threatened his life.

Israel's top hairdresser Shukri Zikri has shut down its nationwide chain, due to huge debts. Hebrew daily "Yediot Ahronot" reports that Zikri owed money to black marketers, who threatened his life, prompting him to close down his business. "After more than 20 years of thriving and breakthrough business in hair design in Israel and internationally, where we led in every field and channel, we created trends and set standards both in terms of size of the chain, the haircut, schools, products, displays in Israel and around the world, the language of design, the collection, and at the level of profession and service. We are forced to announce with great sadness the cessation of operations by the Shuki Zikri chain, due to financial difficulties," said Zikri in a statement.

Zikri revoked professional responsibility for his brand, which he built over the years. "The Shuki Zikri chain and all its branches nationwide will cease operations and will revoke all professional responsibility for all activity and use of the brand names either directly or indirectly.

Shuki Zikri founded the chain in 1985, and it currently includes salons, hair design schools, and cosmetics and manicure and pedicure departments.
