An across the board budget cut will be made in other ministries to finance the defense supplement.
Even as Minister of Finance Yuval Steinitz battles Minister of Defense Ehud Barak to cut the defense budget and introduce transparency into it in order to finance social programs, the Knesset Finance Committee today approved a NIS 779 million supplement to the defense budget.
An across the board budget cut will be made in other ministries to finance the defense supplement.
The Finance Committee avoided using the word "supplement", saying, "Details will be given to the joint committee with the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. The exact amount is NIS 779 million."
The Finance Committee also approved a NIS 292 million transfer to Holocaust survivors.
