44 new speed cameras to begin operations

"Globes" reveals the locations of the new digital traffic cameras that will be activated from the end of the month.

The new digital traffic cameras that will begin operations at the end of the month justifiably worry many drivers, as they will issue tickets automatically, and they do not leave even the smallest wiggle room about the speed recorded, in contrast to current methods. The Ministry of Finance estimates that the new cameras will generate hundreds of millions of shekels in fines a year, and a drive along a single road can result in multiple speeding tickets.

Any driver who appeals a fine, but loses his or her case, will have the fine increased.

44 cameras are already in place and are waiting for the start of operations. The locations of the cameras installed in the program's first stage are known. The list by arkiva is published by mobile navigation application Waze and regularly updated.
