Motorola Solutions Venture Capital resumes Israel operations

The investment arm of Motorola Solutions is recommencing Israeli operations after a two-year hiatus.

Motorola Solutions Venture Capital, the investing arm of Motorola Solutions Inc. (NYSE: MSI) is resuming operations in Israel, after a two year hiatus. Boaz Or-Shraga, who until recently served as manager of Motorola Solutions M2M engineering division, will head the Israeli operations.

Motorola Ventures, as it was then known, began operating in Israel in 1999. When Motorola split into Motorola Solutions and Motorola Mobility Inc. (NYSE: MMI) in late 2010, the company's venture capital arm was also split up. Motorola Solutions Venture Capital pulled out of Israel, while Motorola Mobility Ventures continued operations in Israel under Mony Hassid. Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) subsequently acquired Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion last August.

Motorola Solutions Venture Capital said, "The company has decided to seek investment opportunities in companies operating in Israel that have strategic value." It is interested in companies developing solutions for cloud computing, video, video analysis, consumer conduct, RFID, and information security.

By 2010, Motorola Ventures had invested $42 million in sense through the wall solutions developer Camero Ltd., LTE metrocells developer DesignArt Networks Ltd., and driver assistance solutions developer Mobileye Inc.
