Mobile carrier Mirs Communications will bear all expenses related to the conversion to the new prefix.
The Ministry of Communications has published the decision allowing Mirs Communications Ltd. to receive the 053 prefix. This morning, the ministry notified all carriers that Mirs was switching to the 053 prefix, and that it will gradually stop using the 057 prefix. The decision is meant to help Mirs enter the mobile market with a new and more attractive prefix.
In its petition to the Ministry of Communications, Mirs promised that it would bear all expenses related to the conversion to the new prefix.
The 057 prefix will be returned to the Ministry of Communications, and Mirs will not be allowed to use it for new subscribers. Mirs agreed to compensate the other carriers, after they strongly objected to bearing the costs involved in organizing their information systems to accommodate Mirs's marketing measure.
