"Forbes" names Israeli co as potential next Instagram

UppSite, which enables website publishers to turn their content into an app for mobile devices, is among 12 companies on the Forbes list.

After Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg astonished the world a week ago by paying $1 billion to buy picture sharing company Instagram, "Forbes" magazine has drawn up a list of twelve companies that re candidates to be "the next Instagram" and make a $1 billion exit. Among them is Israeli company UppSite

Forbes had an excellent opportunity to check out the start ups with the best chances of being bought by one of the giants at VentureBeat’s 2012 DEMO spring conference in Santa Clara, California last week, at which the innovative companies displayed their wares to venture capital funds and other potential investors.

UppSite is headed by entrepreneur Gal Brill. Its service enables website publishers to turn their content into an app for mobile devices, for free in the basic format. UppSite came fourth on the Forbes list, which could bring it an important step closer to the coveted exit, or at least encourage investors to look at it.

First on the list is Arqball Spin, which has an app enabling users to create three dimensional representations using a smartphone.
