Israel Aerospace Industries' (IAI) board of directors, chaired by Dov Baharav, has elected Joseph Weiss as president and CEO of IAI, to replace Itzhak Nissan. Weiss’s nomination is pending approval by the ministers of defense and of finance. For the past 6 years, Weiss, has been the Corporate Vice President & General Manager of the Systems, Missiles & Space Group.
Before joining IAI, Weiss served in the Israel Navy for 27 years, retiring with the rank of captain. He oversaw the planning and implementation of several major programs in advanced missile and defense systems, and was responsible for the program to develop and manufacture the first "Dolphin" submarines for the Israel Navy.
Dov Baharav said: "I believe that Joseph's nomination will promote the company's advancement and achievement of goals and I expect a fruitful cooperation with our new president and CEO. Joseph will immediately begin preparing to enter his new position”
Weiss holds a B.Sc. degree (with honors) in mechanical engineering from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology and completed his studies for a masters degree in mechanical engineering, also at the Technion. Weiss holds an MBA from Tel Aviv University.
