The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.49% to 1,073.46 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.41% to 985.12 points, and the TechBlue 50 Index fell 0.45% to 336.82 points. Turnover was NIS 743.6 million.
The TASE again fell across the board today, except for the Biomed Index, after an afternoon rally petered out, despite a mixed day on European markets and at the opening on Wall Street. Despite the losses of the last two sessions, the Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 2.3% for the week, after falling 3.7% last week.
In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government bonds fell by up to 0.1% and long-term Galil CPI-linked bonds fell by up to 0.2%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 0.32%.
In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.875/$, up 0.26% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.919/€, up 0.11%.
In the stock market, dual-listed high-tech shares set the Tel Aviv 25 Index's parameters: Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:MLNX; TASE:MLNX) corrected downwards 2.9% for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares, while EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: EZCH; TASE:EZCH) rose 3.6% for the biggest gain. NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) rose 0.7%.
Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) rose 1.9% on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 94 million. Its parent company, Israel Corporation (TASE: ILCO) fell 1.9% after injecting $25 million into equity in subsidiary Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.
Telcos were mixed, with Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) down 1.2% and Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) down 1.1%. But Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) rose 1.1%. Its parent company IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH) unit Discount-Investment fell 0.4% and its bonds fell by up to 14.6%.
Gas exploration companies fell today, with Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) and Delek Drilling LP (TASE: DEDR.L) down 1.6% and 2.1%, respectively, and their parent, Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG), down 3%. Isramco Ltd. (Nasdaq: ISRL; TASE: ISRA.L) fell 2.3%.
Elsewhere in the market, Tel Aviv 100-listed LivePerson Inc. (Nasdaq: LPSN); TASE: LPSN) fell 4.6% and small-cap Elbit Imaging Ltd. (Nasdaq: EMITF; TASE: EMIT) rose 4.9% after completing a $1.43 billion property sale in the US. The company's bonds ranged between losses of 11.7% and gains of 4.4%.
The Insurance Index continued its slide, with Harel Insurance Investments and Financial Services Ltd. (TASE: HARL) was down 1.3% and Migdal Insurance and Financial Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MGDL) fell 1.9%.
