Mobile upload app Uppsite raises $2.1m

Two companies owned by Ilan Shiloach: start-up incubator thetime and Matomy Media Group led the investment.

Mobile upload app Uppsite Ltd. has raised $2.1 million from two companies owned by Ilan Shiloach: start-up incubator thetime and Matomy Media Group Ltd., as well as other private investors. The company has raised $2.7 million to date.

Uppsite CEO Gal Brill founded the company in 2010. It allows websites and bloggers on WordPress, Blogger and Tumbler to quickly and automatically convert their sites to mobile applications. Automattic Inc. the company behind, chose Uppsite to be part of the WordPress VIP Featured Partners Program.

Shiloach said, "We are very happy with UppSite's success led by the CEO and entrepreneur Gal Brill, chairman Edo Polak and the exceptional team who are helping to bring the world into the mobile era."

Matomy CEO Ofer Druker added, “Our investment in Uppsite is part of our mobile advertising strategy. As we see the rapidly growing demand for mobile advertising, and with mobile ad spend expected to show 950% growth by 2015, we are looking for innovative and effective solutions to meet this market need. We identified Uppsite as a leading platform that provides a smart and quick solution for monetization of mobile traffic assets for our media partners as well as increases the reach and opportunities for app distribution for our mobile advertisers."

Brill said, "We believe that any web publisher should have the best mobile presence out there, no matter its size. With this new investment we will take a foothold in Silicon Valley by establishing an office in the Bay Area. Additionally, we will now be able to reach larger clients and develop our excellent product even further by adding new and exciting features; the future of UppSite looks very bright."
