June trade deficit widens 45%

The trade deficit reached NIS 7.3 billion in June.

Israel's trade deficit totaled NIS 7.3 million in June 2012, 45% more than in June 2011, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today. Export of goods totaled NIS 14.7 billion, and import of goods totaled NIS 22.1 billion.

Export of goods (excluding ships, planes, and diamonds) covered 67.5% of imports in the first half of 2012, resulting in an average monthly trade deficit of NIS 6.3 billion. This amounts to NIS 76.1 billion, compared with a trade deficit of NIS 52.2 billion in 2011 and NIS 29 billion in 2010.
