Galia Maor to join Teva board - report

"Ma'ariv": The former Bank Leumi CEO may also be appointed Teva's chairwoman.

Hebrew daily "Ma'ariv" reports that former Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) president and CEO Galia Maor will shortly join the board of directors of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA), and she may, in future, succeed Dr. Philip Frost as chairman. The paper says that Maor has received an offer from several sources close to Teva's controlling shareholders to serve as a director.

In September, Teva will announce the convening of a general shareholders meeting, which will appoint new directors, and Maor's name will be among the candidates. She is expected to officially take up the post in January 2013.

"Ma'ariv" adds that sources at Teva do not rule out that Maor might succeed Frost as chairman of Teva, and that she has the support of directors Amir Elstein and Chaim Hurvitz, and Meir Heth, a former chairman of both Teva and Bank Leumi.

Maor told "Ma'ariv" in response, "If and when I have something to announce about my future, I will do it in an orderly manner."

Teva was not available for response.
