Intec Phama wins US patent for accordion capsule

Last week, Intec Pharma announced successful results in the Phase II study of its Levodopa accordion capsule for the treatment of advanced Parkinson's Disease.

Intec Pharma Ltd. (TASE: INTP) will receive a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for its "Method and Apparatus for Forming Delivery Devices for Oral Intake of an Agent" on October 30. The patent will protect the company's accordion capsule and procedure for folding and integration of the system's components. The patent will be valid through 2027.

Today's announcement comes one week after Intec Pharma announced successful results in the Phase II clinical trial of its Levodopa accordion capsule for the treatment of advanced Parkinson's Disease. The company believes that the clinical success of the drug and its safety profile indicated that the capsule could become the leading treatment for the disease.
