"TechCrunch" reports that Carlson Wagonlit Travel has acquired the trip itinerary and bookings app developer.

"TechCrunch" reports that Carlson Wagonlit Travel has acquired WorldMate Ltd. for $20 million. WorldMate is an app for international travelers and a trip itinerary planner. The app can be used for booking hotels, renting cars (including comparing prices between agencies) and limos. Gold members can get flight updates.

WorldMate also replaces the paperwork of booking hotels and flights, by sending email confirmations (a separate service) and presenting the details in an easy-to-read way on a mobile phone.

Founded in 2000 by Nadav Gur, WorldMate has raised $14.35 million from Motorola Ventures and BlackBerry Venture Fund. It has 35 employees at its San Francisco headquarters and R&D center in Lod.

WorldMate's apps work on iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone. It claims that its apps have been used by 10 million travelers to date to plan their trips, with a total of 3.7 million registered users, 9 billion miles and 2.9 million itineraries managed this year.

WorldMate declined to comment on the report.
