Video synopsis solutions developer BriefCam Ltd. has won first prize for physical security and was named technology company of the year in the HLS Technology Innovation Competition at the 2nd International Conference for Homeland Security in Tel Aviv. The company beat a field of 15 contestants.
BriefCam demonstrated its products, which enable hours of surveillance video to be browsed in minutes. On average, one hour of video is summarized into a minute of video review time. The technology, which is already used by law enforcement, police and other security authorities worldwide, saves on both time and manpower, and provides a solution to the challenge posed by the ever-growing amount of video generated each day.
Briefcom chief scientist Prof. Shmuel Peleg, VP R&D Dr. Yaron Caspi, and chairman Gideon Ben-Zvi founded the company in 2007. Headquartered in Neve Ilan, outside Jerusalem, the company has sales offices in Connecticut and Shanghai.
The Office of the Chief Scientist, Israeli Industry Center for R&D (MATIMOP), and Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute sponsored the 2nd International Conference for Homeland Security, which focused on the four critical aspects of homeland security: smart cities (urban security); protection of critical infrastructures; cyber security; and crisis management.
