Hyundai brings Genesis, Sonata Hybrid to Israel

Hyundai has obtained Israeli standards approval for its high-end Genesis sedan and Sonata Hybrid.

Hyundai Motor Company Ltd. (KSX: 5380; LSE: HYUD) has obtained Israeli standards approval for its high-end Genesis sedan and Sonata Hybrid, ahead of the cars' launch later this year.

The Genesis sedan has either a 3.8-liter or 5-liter engine, and the Genesis Coupe has either a 174-horsepower 2-liter turbo engine, or a 3.8-liter engine. Hyundai has not yet set a price for the cars.

The Sonata Hybrid has a gasoline and lithium-battery electric engine. The car has apparently been brought to Israel for testing by the Government Vehicles Administration for its hybrid cars tender, which will be published in a few weeks. Although the car has a 200-horsepower engine, the Ministry of Transport gave it a Green 2 classification, making it fully eligible for the tax break on hybrid cars.
