The shekel was strengthening against the dollar and euro in morning inter-bank trading today. The shekel-dollar exchange rate fell on the opening by 0.35%, compared with yesterday's representative rate, to NIS 3.719/$ and the shekel-euro exchange rate fell 0.11% to NIS 4.858/€.

Trading today comes after the NYSE's Dow Jones Index rose to an all-time record of 14,253 points yesterday. Wall Street investors were encouraged by the latest US macroeconomic data. Markets have been rising in Europe and Asia and it seems that investors are ignoring the fiscal crisis that has hit the US.
