Instant video messaging company Glide has raised more than $1 million from venture capital funds and private investors. The start up did not specify the exact sum raised in the financing round, only saying it was a seven figure amount, and named some of the investors as former CEO of ICQ and AOL IM Orey Gilliam and founder and former CEO of ooVoo Philippe Schwartz.
The company said that it leverages its patent-pending, streaming video technology to enable real-time video messaging. With Glide, video messages are broadcast live the moment recording begins and are simultaneously saved to the cloud for on-demand consumption. Conversations can occur in real-time, or at the convenience of each user.
The round of financing came as Glide launched its video messaging app for iPhones. Glide said an app for Androids is coming soon.
Based in Jerusalem, Glides was founded in May 2012 by Ari Roisman, Jonathan Caras and Adam Korbl.
