Medical sensors developer LifeBeam Technologies Ltd. has raised $50,000 in less than a month through crowdsourcing fundraising site Indiegogo.

LifeBeam has developed a smart bicycle helmet with a built-in sensor that monitors the cyclist's heartbeat. The device is more convenient that standard monitors, which are strapped to the chest. The helmet sensor transmits the data in real time to a smartphone sport watch or cycling computer via various wireless technologies.

LifeBeam develops physiology monitoring solutions which use optical sensors for measuring heartbeat, blood flow, and oxygenation. The company has jointly developed with Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) a fighter pilot helmet with physiology sensors, and is considering working with NASA to integrate its sensors in helmets for astronauts.
