Foreign buyer pays NIS 23m for Gottex founder's Tel Aviv home

The 300-sq.m. penthouse of the late Lea Gottlieb is the 15th floor of a building on Uri Lesser Street.

The Tel Aviv penthouse of the late founder of swimwear company Gottex Models Ltd., Lea Gottlieb, has been sold to a foreign resident for NIS 23 million. Gottlieb passed away in November 2012 at the age of 94. The 300-square meter penthouse with a 150-square meter balcony is on the 15th floor of a building on Uri Lesser Street in north Tel Aviv.

The sale is subject to court approval.

According to Adv. Shira Bloch-Ackerman of Bloch-Ackerman, Kahane Law Offices, who acted for the estate of Leah Gottleib in this deal, the price is considerable even by Tel Aviv standards.

The buyer, from abroad, was represented by Adv. Caroline Walsh of CWalsh Law Offices.

Gottlieb was born in Hungary and survived the Holocaust. She founded Gottex in the late 1950s with her husband, Armin, who died in 1995. She sold the financially troubled company to Africa-Israel Investments Ltd. (TASE:AFIL), controlled by chairman Lev Leviev, in 1997. In 2009, Africa-Israel sold the company to Joey Schwebel. In 2005, Gottlieb founded a new swimwear line called Lea.
