Low-cost airline Wizz Air will inaugurate a new route, from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport to Bucharest, on June 15th. This development comes four months after Wizz Air launched its maiden Israel flight with the opening of its Tel Aviv-Budapest route in December 2012. Wizz Air says that its decision to launch a second route from Tel Aviv comes in response to the enthusiastic reception shown by customers in Tel Aviv.
Seats on the new Tel Aviv-Bucharest route are already on sale, with one-way fares starting at €37.99.
Daniel de Carvalho, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, said, "Wizz Air’s offer of very low fares is unprecedented in Tel Aviv and so in just four months we are now offering more low fare options with a second route to Bucharest. We expect to carry over 50,000 passengers on this route in the first year of operations."
Minister of Tourism, Dr. Uzi Landau said that the increased quantity of low-cost flights from Bucharest to Israel "will allow an uplift in the flow of tourists between the two countries as well as between Israel and Central Europe. "
