Israel Railways improves punctuality

Punctuality improved to 94.78% in the first quarter from 92.11% in the corresponding quarter of 2012 and 86.45% in the corresponding quarter of 2011.

Israel Railways says that its punctuality improved to 94.78% of all trains in the first quarter of 2013 from 92.11% in the corresponding quarter of 2012 and 86.45% in the corresponding quarter of 2011. It added that punctuality during rush hour rose to 94.77% of all trains in the first quarter from 91.84% in the corresponding quarter of 2012 and 84.91% in the corresponding quarter of 2011.

Israel Railways carried over 10 million passengers during the first quarter, 7% more than the 9.5 million passengers carried during the corresponding quarter. Passenger traffic increased sharply on new and upgraded lines, including the Yavne West-Tel Aviv, Jerusalem-Beit Shemesh-Tel Aviv, and Tel Aviv-Beersheva lines.

Minister of Transport Yisrael Katz said that Israel Railways was currently working on ventures at a cost of tens of billions of shekels.
