Thu: Japan jitters jolt TASE

Mellanox had the biggest fall on the market, and other high-tech shares fell, but Bezeq bucked the tide.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 1.40% to 1,215.40 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 1.57% to 1,091.44 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index fell 2.61% to 306.85 points. Turnover was NIS 1.08 billion.

The TASE fell today, in line with losses on European markets and at the opening on Wall Street, following the 7.3% tumble by the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei Index. The Tel Aviv 25 Index was unchanged for the week, after today's drop erased the week's rally.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate, at NIS 3.702/$, up 1.01% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.768/€, up 0.48%.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds fell by up 0.65and long term Galil CPI-linked government bonds ranged between losses of 0.4% and gains of 0.1%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 0.22%.

In the stock market, Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:MLNX; TASE:MLNX) fell another 5.2%, for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares, on a negative arbitrage gap. Its high-tech peers on the index EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: EZCH; TASE:EZCH) and NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE), both fell 1.4%.

Azrieli Group Ltd. (TASE: AZRG) fell 0.7%, after publishing its financials. Its real estate peer on the Tel Aviv 25 Index, Gazit-Globe Ltd. (NYSE: GZT; TASE: GZT), fell 0.8%.

Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) bucked the market, with a gain of 1%, the biggest rise among Tel Aviv 25 shares, on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 62 million.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) and Perrigo Company (Nasdaq:PRGO; TASE:PRGO) both fell 1.2%.

On the Tel Aviv 100 Index, Given Imaging Ltd. (Nasdaq: GIVN; TASE: GIVN) fell another 4.2%.

The Mid-Cap Index 50 fell 3.1%, with Camtek Ltd. (Nasdaq: CAMT; TASE:CAMT) down 5.9%, and Priortech Ltd. (TASE:PRTC) down 6.9%.

Small-cap Naaman Porcelain Ltd. (TASE:NAMN) rose 10.5%, after publishing good financials.
