Former health minister appointed Clal Insurance chairman

Danny Naveh is succeeding Avigdor Kaplan.

Former health minister Danny Naveh (53) has been appointed chairman of Clal Insurance Enterprises Holdings Ltd. (TASE: CLIS), amid the battle for control of its parent company IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH), controlled by Nochi Dankner. Naveh is succeeding Avigdor Kaplan, who held the post for five years, after serving eleven years as CEO, and is heading to manage Hadassah Medical Organization.

Clal Insurance's board of directors has not yet discussed Naveh's appointment, which is also subject to approval by Supervisor of Capital Markets, Insurance and Savings Prof. Oded Sarig. In December, Naveh became a director at another IDB unit, Discount Investment Corporation (TASE: DISI).

Naveh has longstanding ties with Clal Insurance, in part through Agate Medical Investments LP, which he founded in 2007, and in which Clal Insurance is a major investor.
