Reports from Egypt state that, on Sunday, suspected Islamic militants bombed a natural gas pipeline to Jordan south of El Arish in Sinai. Officials said that the attacks on two points on the pipeline started fires that were soon put out, but that the flow of gas was disrupted.

This was the first attack on Egypt's natural gas pipelines in Sinai in over a year, coming within days of the ouster of President Mohammed Morsi by the army.

Israel no longer obtains gas from the Sinai gas fields, after the previous Egyptian government suspended contracts signed by the Mubarak government.
