Budapest-based low-cost carrier Wizz Air Hungary Ltd. will inaugurate three new routes between Tel Aviv and Eastern Europe in October. Flights to Lithuania's capital Vilnius and Katowice in Poland will start operating in late October, followed by the route to Cluj-Napoca in Romania in late November. Wizz Air will initially make two weekly flights between Tel Aviv and Vilnius and Cluj, and three weekly flights to Katowice.
One-way starting fares to Katowice and Vilnius are €49.99, including taxes, and the starting fare to Cluj is €39.99.
WizzAir corporate communications manager Daniel de Carvalho said, "Following the success of our Budapest and Bucharest routes, launched in December 2012, we expect similar enthusiasm among consumers for our new services to Vilnius, Katowice, and Cluj-Napoca. The low fares that Wizz Air offers will make these very popular destinations for Israelis flying to Europe. We are confident that Tel Aviv will benefit from tourist inflows throughout the year."
Wizz Air says that Katowice is a center of culture, science, and business in southern Poland and is it first destination in Poland connected to Tel Aviv. Cluj is Romania’s second biggest city, a technology hub, and an entry point to Transylvania, the mystical home of Dracula. The carrier expects Vilnius, a UNESCO world heritage site, to be a very popular summer destination for Israelis as it offers easy access to the Baltic Sea and an ideal mild summer climate for family holidays.
