Former Governor of the Central Bank of Argentina Prof. Mario Blejer will meet the Turkel Committee today.
“IDF Radio" (Galei Zahal) reports that Prof. Mario Blejer, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Argentina, arrived in Israel on Friday, and will meet the Turkel Committee for the appointment of senior public service officials today.
On Thursday, "Channel 2 News" mentioned four new candidates for governor of the Bank of Israel: Blejer, former deputy governor Prof. Zvi Eckstein, former Ministry of Finance director general and CEO of Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) Victor Medina, and Accountant General Michal Abadi-Boiangiu.
The appointment of a successor to Stanley Fischer has faced a public storm in which two candidates, Prof. Jacob Frenkel and Prof. Leo Leiderman, withdrew their candidacies.
