Tue: Market ends 5773 in negative territory

The TASE fell today despite gains by Teva and Israel Chemicals. The market reopens Sunday after the Rosh Hashana holiday.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.87% to 1,179.73 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.80% to 1,082.06 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index fell 0.41% to 322.06 points. Turnover was NIS 1.21 billion.

The TASE fell across the board today in line with losses on European markets and despite gains at the opening on Wall Street. The TASE will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday for the Rosh Hashana holiday.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.632/$, up 0.44% compared with yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.781/€, up 0.02%

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds and long term Galil CPI-linked government fell. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 0.07%.

In the stock market, Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) rose 1.2% for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares. Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) also bucked the market, rising 0.6%, and 0.9%, respectively. Israel Chemicals had the day's biggest turnover, at NIS 93 million.

Gazit-Globe Ltd. (NYSE: GZT; TASE: GZT) fell 3.3% for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares, closely followed by 3.2% losses by Oil Refineries Ltd. (TASE:ORL) and Strauss Group Ltd. (TASE:STRS).

Elsewhere in the market, Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd. (Nasdaq:NVMI; TASE:NVMI) rose 1.9% on new orders, NasVax Ltd. (TASE: NSVX) rose 3.7% on closing a Chinese investment, Mazor Robotics Ltd. (Nasdaq: MZOR; TASE:MZOR) rose 1.7%, after announcing the first brain surgeries with its surgical navigation system, and WhiteSmoke Software Ltd. (TASE: WSMK) rose 2.7%, after announcing collaboration with Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN).

Alvarion Ltd. (Nasdaq: ALVR; TASE: ALVR) fell 2.5%, despite higher bids in the new court-ordered auction for the company.
