China's Huawei Technologies is entering the Israeli smartphone and tablet market through importer Alpha Telecom.
China's Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. is entering the Israeli smartphone and tablet market through importer Alpha Telecom Ltd. Various importers have been selling Huawei products in Israel for two years, but they invested little in marketing. Alpha Telcom will try to position itself as alternative for consumers seeking smartphones that cost NIS 1,000-2,000.
Huawei will offer its Android-based G510, and Y300, smartphones in Israel, to be followed in a few weeks by P6 models. The G510 will cost NIS 1,000, the Y300 will cost NIS 850, and the P6 will cost of NIS 2,000.
Huawei's main Chinese rival will by ZTE Corporation (HKSE: 763; SZSE: 63), which is represented in Israel by Eurocom Communications Ltd. Eurocom only markets one ZTE smartphone at present.
