CPI unchanged in September

Over the past 12 months, the rise in inflation has been just 1.3%, reflecting low demand in the economy.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) was unchanged in September, the Central Bureau of Statistics announced today, after rising 0.2% in August.

In September, there was a notable rise in education prices (3.4%), due to a sharp rise in parental payments to schools. Fuel prices rose 3.2% in September and fresh vegetable produce prices rose by almost 5%.

On the other hand, fresh fruit produce prices fell 9%, recreation and leisure prices in Israel and abroad fell 4% after peaking in August, and car insurance prices fell 1.4%.
