Eldan Transportation Ltd. has signed a franchise agreement with St. Louis-based Enterprise Rent-a-Car, a leading international car rental brand. "This partnership continues a planned expansion program through key markets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia which is aimed at providing domestic and inbound customers with increased choice and outstanding customer service across major destinations for business and leisure," stated Enterprise Rent-a-Car.
Eldan will include Enterprise's name as a joint brand in Israel. Industry sources believe that the link-up will give Eldan a competitive edge in the car rental market, especially for American tourists and businesspeople of Israeli companies in the US.
Enterprise Rent-a-Car has a fleet of 1.3 million vehicles. It owns the National Car Rental and Alamo Rent a Car brands in the Americas. Enterprise Holdings and Enterprise Fleet Management had $15.4 billion revenue in 2012. It has wholly-owned vehicle rental operations across North America and Europe, and franchises in Europe, Brazil, China, and Turkey.
Eldan is one of Israel's three largest car leasing companies, with a fleet of over 30,000 cars and 25 rental offices at tourist centers nationwide.
Car leasing sources said today that Eldan and Enterprise could create synergies in the leasing market in the long term. The agreement could give Eldan access to direct, discounted vehicle by leading manufacturers, if and when the company decides on parallel imports of cars. Eldan declined to comment on these possibilities.
Eldan CEO Shay Dahan said, "Our partnership with Enterprise opens the door for Eldan to become part of a successful global network, with the ambition to grow by delivering outstanding service, responding to customer needs and bringing international scope to a motivated team of employees."
